The Fund is independently governed and was established through a landmark agreement between the Government of Botswana and De Beers Group to help transform Botswana's diamond wealth into diversified, productive, and sustainable resources for the future prosperity of the people of Botswana.

Diamonds for Development will connect capital, partnerships, and expertise to boost Botswana's business environment and secure a more diversified, knowledge-based, and export-led economy.
